Well, I am from New York City.   I grew up following the Mets.  My passion for the Red Sox came later, when I was living in Boston.  But I still maintain some loyalty to the Mets as my NL team, even if I don't pay close attention.

Plus they have Pedro, and my heart will follow him anywhere!  Except the Bronx of course


Ah, I see.  I know it's hard not making the playoffs when you're used to it, as we both discovered last year....   

Baseball is BOAR EENG! end of story... Dude, did you see the awesome action today? The Giants/Cowboys turned out to be what the Colts/Saints were supposed to be, Vince Young won again!!! The Iggles  found a way to loose, seriously, this too funny. Denver, though my heart goes out to Everitt of the Bills. The Patriots and Moss, a perfect fit and the Lions want to know if they can play the Raiders all year!

And we haven't even gotten to Monday Night Football yet    and we haven't even gotten to College Football yet... LOL at Michigan and Notre Dame.

LOL to the Nth degree.  I swear, my headache on Saturday evening was caused by the lack of oxygen from laughing so hard at Michigan.

My beloved, 10,000 + loss Phils are undecided if they want to suck or rock. And to the BoSox, Cubs, and assorted other "We never win!" fans: BS! I don't ever want to hear whining from non-Philly fans. You have *NO* concept of pain - you have hope every season that your team may not suck. ... I never do.

My Iggles should have won last night. They did not. They played sloppier than Rutgers. I was wearing my McNabb jersey and I was just embarrassed by the special teams. (And what was worse was that the Giants couldn't topple the Cowgirls.)

Warnings:

I route Yanks postseason in baseball - I have NY family and a boyfriend who has been a fan since he was a little boy.

I hate the Braves, the BoSox, the St. L. Cardinals, the Blue Jays, the Cowgirls, the Giants, the Redskins, and the Lakers for good measure (though I don't follow basketball). (Oh, and UConn, but that has nothing to do with sports.)

I grew up in eastern Pennsylvania. I used to follow baseball when I was a teenager. I started rooting for the Phillies just to spite my dad, who is originally from Pittsburgh, and so always rooted for the Pirates (although we did always bond over our mutual hatred of the Yankees).

I do remember when the Phillies won the World Series, though. I was ecstatic.

Sadly, ever since the Expos left Montreal, I haven't paid much attention to baseball.

I love New York City. I just don't love the baseball teams. And as a Braves fan, there's nothing worse than Mets fans. :p It's better to have a passion for the Red Sox.

Regarding Pedro, is it mean of me to say that I hope your heart follows him to the DL?


No, Nate. Baseball is NOT boring. But NFL opening weekend was a fine thing. Especially since the Broncos won. If not, I might be saying that we should focus on baseball. :p

Ooooh, this thread is getting good! Baseball vs. football. College football vs. profootball. The Yankees vs the Mets. The Cowboys vs. everyone else. The Tide vs. the Gators vs. the Dawgs.

I won't say baseball is boring, but it does make me sleepy! And as a college football fan, I refuse to let baseball fans have all the way until October. Dude! We only get 3 good months, then sporadic play during bowl season. Baseball fans will just have to share six weeks of their SIX MONTHS of practically uninterrupted baseball time with football fans.

I think ESPN will agree with me...

LOL, it warms my Cowboys heart to see the Iggles still finding ways to loose to an inferior team and look who's next for the Iggles, the Dedskins, LOL, I have no idea who I should pull for, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have another Injury Bowl  just to recap, TO, 3 catches, 2 TDs and 87 yards  plus a win... I can understand that. The Gators moved up in the polls but in the end, right now I wouldn't want to play LSU, they are just nasty. My Cornhuskers get USC this Saturday, we'll get them this time! GO BIG RED!

Lizzie, I will never be done glaring at Braves fans, not until they have endured 14 years watching another team win the division and then LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS. Er. Sorry about that.

Nate, no, I'm serious. I no longer tolerate other people saying their baseball team sucks. My team, as a franchise, has not been above .500 since 1921. We've had two owners banned (one for betting on the team), invariably end up with the less talented brother, trade away our star players (or chase them away), and, in general, have an ownership that couldn't give two figs for a good game of baseball. I'm not sorry at all, but no one else has ever suffered the same as Phils fans. Truly.

As for the Cowgirls, you can keep Whinypants. He's already dissing your qb behind his back (he wants to play for us again, or the Colts). We just need to whip our special teams into shape - that game really should have been ours, but we have some stupid rookies. McNabb was fine, and is a class act. Can't say that for many of the Dallas players. Or fans. ;P

Hockey hasn't started yet. All other sports are irrelevant. My darling Flames will make their comeback, and I sit and listen to prospects for training camp.

Ouch. That hurt. 

I'm all ready to concentrate on football. Even if my QB is young, he still looks pretty good, and our division isn't so strong, so I'm thinking we can probably get to the playoffs, get the kid some experience.
