HBP: What do you hope for, and what do you expect.
« on: September 10, 2007, 07:06:58 PM »

With the filming for HBP starting very soon, I was wondering what everyone was hoping for with this film, and what you actually expect.

So far... for canonicity, I love the first two. For atmosphere and general feel, I love the third one. Not particularly keen of four, I still liked it, but there is nothing in it that I can point out that I love like I can with the others (though I did love Ginny in GoF Grin). I love OotP for the story and the improvement in characterisation, though Luna's chacarcter annoyed me a little, even though I adore her in the books. OotP is my favourite so far, even though I was disappointed with some aspects.

As for HBP, I think they should drop the plot and just concentrate on H/G, who cares about Dumbledore, Snape, Voldemort and lockets anyway! Wink

Seriously, though -
What scenes do you really want, do you think they will make the cut?
How do you want and expect the characters/ships/plot to be developed?
What are your feelings on the screen writer and director?
How do you think the actors will handle the film?

And anything you else you want to discuss about you hopes, worries and expectations of HPB.

Steve Kloves is writing this one and I fear for our H/G story line. And Ron's character. And, you know, most of the important details.

*sigh*

I'm keeping my expectations for HBP low.  Lower than the bottom rung of the ladder low.  That way I'll be pleasantly surprised when they're exceeded.  So if Bonnie actually gets to have more than one line in a scene, if she gets to say something and then reply to someone in that scene, I'll be happily surprised.

After listening to a new interview with David Yates, I'm more excited for HBP. I think I've been on too much of a book high to care about the movies. But, anyway, the new interview has David discussing the key elements in HBP, and he mentions the romances between H/G and R/Hr as being part of that. He also talks about the epic cave scene and Harry's relationship with Dumbledore.

If we can also get some good stuff on Snape, I think the film will be good.

Quote
Actress Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) has updated her website today with a diary entry on filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. She writes today was her first scene working with actor Jim Broadbent, who will be portraying Professor Horace Slughorn in the sixth Harry Potter film. Emma writes:

"It's amazing to be working with him. It's also great because I have been eating profiteroles ALL DAY at Slughorn's dinner party!!!"

I'm really glad they kept the party.  Grin

"I am sorry too," said Lupin. "Sorry I will never know him...but he will know why I died and I hope he will understand. I was trying to make a world in which he could live a happier life"

i think harry potter and the half-blood prince will be a fantastic movie. the only thing i am
worried about is the fact that david yates has added in a scene that is not in the books were the death eathers attack the burrow. i am kind of annoyed that they put that in as it is kind of saying that jk should have put that in the books. but i guess if they think it will be better for the movie then thats ok i guess.

i cannot wait for it to come out
