Uploading a story
« on: July 15, 2008, 10:35:09 PM »

Having scanned through the message boards and not finding it, I'd like to know how one goes about posting a story to GT. I've got a sixth year fic (started right after OotP, but not finished until after DH) that came in at over 200,000 words and 33 chapters.

It's kind of a sprawling mess, but I went to the trouble of writing it so I might as well put it somewhere besides my hard drive.

Sorry, we're not taking submissions. The archive is invitation only. If you're looking for somewhere to put your story, I could suggest some of the other archives out there, such as Phoenix Song or even fanfiction.net. I know the old GT used to take submissions and provide you with beta services, but that became a very large undertaking as the archive grew and many of us don't have that kind of time to put in nowadays.

Oh, fair enough. Perhaps I shouldn't have given the impression my story couldn't be found anywhere. It's been up awhile on Sugar Quill

I tried Phoenix Song. (As I recall, it was founded by refugees from the original Gryffindor Tower site). Eight of my thirty-four chapters did go up there, but that was it. I had the worst luck with the betas they assigned me. Don't know why.

As for fanfiction.net, I'll take a pass. Putting a story there is like pouring a bucket of water into the ocean.
