Board Skins
« on: September 09, 2007, 08:37:40 PM »

Just FYI, the forums have different skins. If you go into your profile, there's a menu on the left-hand side. If you click on "look and layout" preferences, the top section says "current theme" and there's a link next to that where you can change it.

If you're finding the boards are slow, some people are finding they load faster using the SMF Default Theme.

New Skins!
« Reply #1 on: September 25, 2007, 12:12:10 PM »

Anne has made a lovely new red theme for the forums based on the default skin and Paula has uploaded a pirate theme!

If your looking for a change, give them a try. Remember you can change your them by going to your profile and selecting "look and layout preferences" from the side menu.

Mind you, once I get back into gear, and start making themes, there will be no stopping me....  Evil

For any of you old skool GTers here, I may even bring back the Towerstock theme, with a new twist, of course!!

And the pirate theme is great, but those of you knew I was NOT going to NOT have a pirate theme....I can't take credit for it...see bottom for the person who made it.

I've installed a LOTR theme. It's called "Tolkien".

I've actually been using "Scribbles", it looks nice!  But I just discovered that it messes up the "preview" function when composing a post, as only the first line appears when I hit the preview button; the rest is cut off.  I guess it's back to the default skin for me!

Let me see if I can figure that out for you. I'll let you know. I'm really just using this post to test the preview.  Undecided It seems to be working fine. My post was two lines long, now it's three (in a small window).

I see them all. What browser are you using? It might be because you are on a mac. (Right?) I can look into it if I know the browser.

You are correct, I am on a Mac running Safari 3.0!  It only shows the first line and like, a couple pixels of the second line.

I hadn't checked other browsers, but I just tried Firefox and that worked.  So it seems to be a Safari problem, alas!

Well, I noticed the skin has other problems in Firefox. Like the post with the pics of the movie actors is not actually part of the post, but the background for that entire thread...odd. And it kind of makes it hard to read. Sad, because I liked it too. Sad

ETA: See if it works now.

I don't know what that thread looked like before in the Scribbles skin, but it looks fine now. I'm getting the pics of the actors as part of the post and not as a background.

Yes, apparently that was just a rouse by my computer to fool me. When I went back to check to see if I could fix that, it was working fine. I guess the page didn't load up properly the first time. Sad
