Hello
« on: November 09, 2007, 09:30:13 PM »

Hi everyone,

I only started reading HP two months ago and just finish DH (I drive a lot so I listened to all 7 books on CD).  I found that when I finished that I had taken in so much Harry Potter at once, that I went through withdrawals.  That's when I found fanfic.  Some of my favs are on this site so I thought I'd join.

P.S. Considering I'd like to write one day, I've been inspired by fanfic to try my hand at it.  If anyone is willing to take a look at what I got so far, I am trying to do a HP/Middle Earth cross-over that explores some less prominent subplots of both series.  I appreciate it.

Welcome Mungo! You should really count yourself as lucky because you got to read the books all the way through without having to wait two or three years for a new one to come out!

Yeah, I bet waiting for the books was tough.  Is it the same way for the movies?  I need to go back and watch the ones that have already been made.  I imagine they had to cut a lot of the material away from the books.  Regardless, I always like seeing my favorite books brought to life on film and compare it to how I had imagined it in my mind.

Hi!

No, waiting for the movies is nothing like waiting for the books! You already know the story line, and you are hoping they don't cut what you really want to see...

It's nearly impossible to describe how agonizing the first seven months of this year were... knowing the book was done, but not knowing ANYthing!

I'd been waiting for book seven since 1999 until July.

Man, the days when I didn't even know Sirius and the Malfoys were related... or that Remus/Tonks would be canon (or that Tonks even existed)... that Harry and Ginny would get together before Ron and Hermione!  Shocked (I think I always assumed Ron/Hermione would happen first, and that Harry/Ginny would follow.)

Anyway, on topic - welcome to the boards, Mungo! Smiley
